BAY LAUREL'S GOT TALENT GUIDELINES
Thank you for your interest in Bay Laurel’s Got Talent (“BLGT”) 2027! BLGT provides a wonderful opportunity for your child to showcase their amazing talents. These Guidelines inform all participants of their obligations and responsibilities. Please read them carefully.
ADULT LEADER(S):
- Each act must have at least one Adult Leader. Acts with a large number of participants may have two (2) or three (3) Adult Leaders.
- The Adult Leader(s) must attend all informational meetings (via Zoom) and communicate with members of their act. The BLGT production team cannot effectively communicate with every participant and will instead rely on the Adult Leaders to communicate important information to the individual act member(s)/parents.
- The Adult Leader must be present with the act at auditions, dress rehearsals, technical rehearsals and show day. If the Adult Leader is not available, they must find a suitable replacement. No act should ever be without an Adult Leader.
- Adult Leaders are responsible for keeping their acts ready and quiet during all rehearsals and performances and for cleaning up after their act at the PAEC.
REGISTRATION:
- Registration is open to all TK-5th grade students.
- Registration opens Monday, October 5th and will remain open until Monday, October 19th, or until the maximum number of acts has registered, whichever comes first.
- Each participant must complete the registration form AND submit payment.
- The registration fee this year is $50. This includes a BLGT t-shirt for the performer.
DUPLICATE SONG CHOICE:
- In the event when more than one act selects the same song, the first act to register will be given priority.
NO FREESTYLE:
- Each act must have set music/choreography/script, etc. Freestyling is not allowed.
NO PRE-RECORDED VOCAL OR MUSIC TRACKS:
- All singing and instrumental performances must be live.
TWO-MINUTE ACTS:
- Each act can be no longer than two minutes in length.
INSTRUMENTS:
- A piano will be available for all rehearsals and the show. All other performers must bring their own instruments.
CAN MY CHILD BE IN MORE THAN ONE ACT?
- Performers can be in more than one act as long as the acts are different. For example, one act can be a group dance act and the other act can be singing/music/skit/etc. (The 5th Grade Act does not count for this purpose.)
DANCE GROUPS:
- Because the total number of acts is limited, to ensure our talent show has a variety of acts, we are requiring dance groups to have between 4 and 14 performers, unless otherwise approved.
AUDITIONS:
- Auditions will be held in the Bay Laurel MPR on Wednesday, December 9th and Thursday, December 10th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Each act will have a 10-minute time slot.
- A Sign-Up Genius will be circulated to all Adult Leaders.
- Costumes are not required for the auditions.
- Acts do not have to be complete for the audition; we just need to see at least 30 seconds of each act so we have an idea of what the final act will look like.
ACT NAME/TITLE:
- Each act must come up with a name/title for their act by their audition date.
MUSIC:
- Each act must have its music ready at the audition. If the music is not finalized it is okay to have a shorter version (30 seconds at least) for audition purposes.
MPR DRESS REHEARSAL:
- Dress rehearsals will be held in the Bay Laurel MPR on Tuesday, January 19th, and Wednesday, January 20th from 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Each act will have a 10-minute time slot. A Sign-Up Genius will be circulated to all Adult Leaders.
- We need to see the entire act, with costumes and props at the Dress Rehearsal.
PAEC TECHNICAL REHEARSAL:
- On-stage Technical Rehearsals will be held at the PAEC on Wednesday, February 3rd and Thursday, February 4th; schedule to be provided at a later date.
- All Adult Leaders must check in upon arrival. We will provide specific instructions before.
- Each act will have a 10 minute slot during which they will run their act on stage twice.
- Costumes are not necessary for the Technical Rehearsals.
- Acts can leave after their scheduled rehearsal time.
- Only Adult Leaders will be allowed inside the PAEC.
PAEC DRESS REHEARSAL:
- The full Dress Rehearsal at the PAEC will be held on Friday, February 5th.
- All Adult Leaders must check in upon arrival. We will provide specific instructions before.
- All acts must be in costume and have all instruments/props, etc. with them for the Dress Rehearsal.\
- Each act will be required to stay for the entirety of the dress rehearsal. Dinner will be provided.
- At no time should any act be without their Adult Leader(s).
- Performers/Adult Leaders can bring their own food/drinks; however, please keep in mind we want to avoid anything that can stain costumes, walls or floors (Cheetos, Doritos, Red Drinks, etc., are not a good idea). Additionally, please be respectful and clean up after yourself.
- Consider bringing something to keep your performers busy (books, coloring, iPads, games, etc.) as there will be a lot of time before/after their time on stage.
DRESS CODE:
- Performers may not wear outfits that show or appear to show underwear, or clothing which depicts any of the following: offensive or vulgar language, inappropriate pictures or innuendos relating to sex, advertisements for alcohol, cigarettes, or other controlled substances, illegal activity, violence, racial/ethnic slurs and other inappropriate material.
